WW1 trip to Tiverton Museum

Today class three visited Tiverton museum for a days immersion into WW1, their current topic at school. The children had an excellent day learning more about animals and communication; women’s role; food and rationing and the clothes and uniforms worn during WW1. They had the opportunity to try on various clothes, see how it felt to be in an Anderson shelter (World War 2) and also taste some of the foods eaten during the first world war.

The children’s behaviour was exceptional and didn’t go unnoticed by both the staff from Bish Nym along with the museum workers too. They commented on what a lovely group of children they were. Attached are some photos for your enjoyment.

Bishops Nympton Sports update

Our year 5 / 6s competed in the SMCC athletics tournament on Monday.  Our athletes performed tremendously well in several activities involving long jump, speed bounce, sprint, long distance run, throwing and relay.  Out of the 9 local schools competing, we finished 4th.  A gallant effort by all, enthusiastically supported by our parent helpers.20161128_125737

Children in need fundraiser

Our school council organised a dress up day in aid of Children In need today.  It was a fantastic sight seeing the children in their fabulous costumes turning up to school in the snow.  We have raised £82.94.  A fantastic effort for a very worthy cause.  A huge thank you to everyone who donated.

year 3 / 4 athletics tournament results

12 of our year 3 /  4’s took on the local learning community on Monday in an athletics tournament.  We have been training hard this half term in preparation for the tournament.  The team took on various athletic challenges consisting of running, jumping and throwing events.

A fantastic effort by all earned us a 4th place finish out of 10 teams.  The highlight of the afternoon came with a victory in a head to head relay race against 5 of the teams, encouraged and supported fantastically by our parent helpers.

Well done to everybody involved.
