Road safety

This week we are learning about keeping safe and road safety. We went for a walk and asked the children how we keep safe when we are walking, all the children knew they had to; Stop, Look and Listen to safely cross the road. We have been talking about how else we can keep ourselves safe looking at road signs, traffic lights and zebra crossings. We drew a road in our outside area and had to follow the rules on our bikes and scooters.

Making banana cakes!

Last Thursday we had left over bananas from our snack fruit, we decided not to throw them away and make use of them. We made “healthy” cakes using all of the bananas, the children made one each and even had enough for afternoon snack!

Sports Day

Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, we are postponing our sports day event to Monday 10th July.  Although it is supposed to brighten up, the field is now too wet for it to be deemed  safe for our athletes to speed around the running track.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

Sports Day

Bottom of the class for Mr Scandrett in the weather predicting exams!  This mornings wet weather has already washed away hopes for this mornings sporting activities to take place.  We will be making a decision about this afternoons races later on this morning.  The children’s safety is of utmost importance, the decision will be based on the conditions underfoot as opposed to the current weather condition.

Sports Day

The weather is looking fair to good for Mondays Sports day, so if we keep our fingers crossed I am hopeful that we will be treated to a feast of sporting fun.  Sports day is a culmination of all the sporting skills taught throughout the school year.  These skills will be tested in various round robin activities during the morning, contested between the house teams.

We welcome all parents, family members and friends to cheer the children on in the afternoon races.  Come and make lots of noise for your favourite house as they compete for points to add to their morning totals.  We ask that all children come to school in their sports kit consisting of their house colours.

The event will be supported by our PTA who are providing lunchtime refreshments and various stalls and activities during the afternoon.  Please stay and support our fabulous school.

I look forward to seeing you all on the side lines.
