We had a visit from the Devon air Ambulance today with an excellent introduction and informative assembly for the whole school. Marilyn Mcqueen delivered the assembly with a guest appearance from Ambrose their bear mascot (which the children loved.) We will look to put on a fund raising event soon.

Pre-School Our Autumn Walk
Last week we went on an autumn walk around the village, first we went to the churchyard to collect leaves for some of our activities. The children enjoyed throwing the leaves up into the air and watching them tumble down. We then walked through the school lane and looked for nuts, acorns and twigs. The children loved picking up all of these Autumn treasures and bringing them back to pre-school for our interest table.

The Big Bang
Class 3 had a fantastic day at ‘The big bang’ event at Torrington school. The day was designed to inspire and enthuse children into the technological world of science, technology, engineering and maths. The children had hands on opportunities with various interactive stands and workshops.
An fun packed workshop with the wedo robots kicked off our day. The children were tasked to build a moving model using lego, before writing a computer program to enable their model to move.
After a quick break, we were thrust into the exhibition hall and exposed to all manner of interactive workshops looking at; aeroplane engineering, 3d printing, forensic science, speeding propulsion cars, robotics and maths challenges. The children soaked them in picking up free mementos on the way.
After a hot lunch, watching the fire brigade extinguishing a chip pan fire, we were treated to a very funny and exciting science magic show. The children laughed and were amazed throughout! A fantastic day out, made even more enjoyable by the excellent behaviour of our children.
Many thanks to our parent helpers for your support throughout the day.
