Class One Weekly Update; Summer 2: week 8 – 17th June
Sports day is still going a head tomorrow at present although please check in the morning as the forecast in the afternoon is uncertain. If a decision is made at late notice a text will be set to all parents.
Last week we sent out a letter about trying to gather and reuse some natural objects and interesting things for the children to build and play with. If you are able to offer any donations we would be very grateful. We are especially interested in trying to get hold of some tyres, plastic dog beds, wooden planks and logs, china tea sets and small objects, including glass beads, stones and shells.
During phonics and handwriting this week we will be introducing the letter /h/. If you have any items at home that you would be willing to share please bring in to go on our phonic table. Both nursery and reception children are getting much better at forming their letters pre cursively and their writing is becoming much neater.
In literacy reception children are looking at learning and writing some dinosaur facts.
This week in Maths we will be looking at doubling and halving and considering different ways of doing this. The children will be introduced to this in a playful manner and with lots of role playing and exploring to help them understand the concepts.
