Just a quick reminder that we are running an Easter Bonnet or Decorated Egg competition for Thursday.

Please take your entries to the hall, where they will be sorted and judged.

The Assembly is at 9.30 in the church, followed by refreshments (by the PTA), the science fair and the Easter Competition entries all in the school hall.

We started our preparations for the Exmoor Challenge 2018 today. We had a sizeable group of 17 year 5 and 6 children (plus some additional family members) and several accompanying parents as we set out in some challenging conditions. Once again Graham Turner joined us as first aider, technical adviser and back up. After kit check and safety briefings, we started our walk which although only a gentle introduction to the challenges,  involved a serious ascent and some very useful navigation. We had also some great fun along the way. I can report that that the entire group did extremely well and were eager for more by the end! Thanks to all parents and helpers today. Wow! What an amazing day and evening concert.

Yesterday the choirs from both East Anstey & Bishops Nympton travelled to Wellington School for this annual music event.

Over 400 hundred children were on stage to work with professional musicians and ultimately perform to hundreds of parents in the evening concert, all with a Disney Theme. This was a superb musical opportunity and everyone had great fun. I was truly staggered by the sound of the all children at this concert – both very moving and absolutely brilliant.  I hope to put some video footage on our website. Our children form both schools were great ambassadors (as ever) and sang beautifully. Well done everyone.

Wow! What a day.

We have packed everything into today. We started off with a great breakfast and thought for the day from Stewart our lead instructor. We then made our way to the water for Kayaking (and general water fun).

Then after some lunch we faced the great bog challenge in Low Adventure…

Great skills. We have finished today with a trip to the Bronze Age Roundhouse, Roast Turkey for dinner, Heatree has Talent and even a midnight feast (sort of).

Hi all. Just a quick update from Heatree. All happy and well here on Dartmoor. The journey down was fine and the when the rain did start it didn’t affect our eagerness to get started on our adventures. We have scrambled at Hound Tor, tackled the Vines, Jacob’s ladder and the High Beam (High Ropes at 30 feet up in the forest canopy) The day finished even with Fish and Chips!

Looking forward to Kayaks and a Low Adventure in the Dartmoor Bog followed by Roast Turkey tomorrow.

So following our snow closure we are back in today (Monday). This is a normal day – we were planning for some children to attend Anstey this morning for some singing but with the snow we did not really get to organise this, so this has been rescheduled for Monday the 19th (more on this to come if your children are involved). Hope you all had a good weekend and see you later.

Excellent trip today for Class 3. We made the journey to the Cornish border and had an amazing time. The class sampled life in the (real) Victorian classroom, made bread with the bakers and tried on Victorian clothing. Finally we stepped aboard the train and even went all the  way into the copper mine – deep underground. It was an amazing experience and even the cold didn’t dent our enthusiasm! Huge thanks to Ms Peter (for arranging ) and Kate (for helping) with this superb experience.    

Last Sunday, Harriet and Trixie represented Bishops Nympton School as an individual competitor in the North Devon Schools Show Jumping League. Harriet did really well (on a pony she hasn’t had very long) and Trixie behaved beautifully. They did a lovely clear round at 50cm. Well done Harriet. Great effort.

Four intrepid maths challengers travelled to Wellington School on Saturday to represent our federation. Two children from each school arrived bright and early to take on some really tough questions, cheered on by their families. The challenge is an annual event (by invitation) and this year forty schools took part from as far as North Somerset and Cornwall. Both private and state schools competed. Seth and Emily represented Bish Nym whilst Charlotte and Lily flew the colours for East Anstey. I am delighted to report that our joint team members were a real credit to their schools and performed really well earning a very creditable score of 13 (the third placed team achieved 19 with 21 winning the challenge). Well done and thanks to the team members and their families.
