Welcome to the New Term

I hope you have all had a fantastic summer holiday. Tomorrow is the first day of the new Autumn term and we are all very much looking forward to seeing you.

The school is open for breakfast and after-school club this week (booking needed please). The gates are open from 8.45am with school starting at 9am. Just to also let you know that we are running tuck shop straight away this week (a range of healthy items available for 50p or less). Do send in money in a named purse if you would like to buy from the tuck shop. Clubs will not begin until next week. We have new members of our team and many new exciting initiatives this year so do look out for our communications and especially the newsletter. In the meantime I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Enjoy the term

The Lion King JR Roars into Bish Nym!

Audiences have already been treated to two fantastic productions of Disney’s Lion King JR. The show has had some great review comments from those who have attended with many families booking to see repeat performances. We are now looking forward to our finale. This show, tonight at 6pm is now nearly sold out. Contact our (box) office rapidly for any last tickets. Hope to see you there for a wonderful send off.

Huge thanks and congratulations to all of those who have helped to stage the show which forms part of our English – Spoken Language, Drama and Personal Development curriculum pathways. Thanks also to MTI Europe for facilitating the production (see details above).

London 18 Day 1

What a day! Our adventure started with a smooth journey to the big city. After lunch in the heat of Kensington Gardens we had the fortune of seeing history in the making in Westminster.

We got to see the house of commons and lords in their key debates (seeing the Prime Minister and our MP Peter Heaton Jones)

We then enjoyed a meal at the rainforest cafe before a night out at the West End. Aladdin was amazing. We are all settled now, safe and sound in the hotel.

So proud Exmoor Challenge 2018

What a day!

Glorious sun greeted us for the actual event. This was great for us as watchers but so challenging for the competitors (the hottest Exmoor Challenge in its thirty year history). All got underway well and both Exmoor Link Federation teams produced excellent pace. The training really seems to have paid off as they made their way confidently around the course. That pace didn’t slow much (even with the conditions) and all children made it home to the cheers of the sizeable crowd. Times would appear to be good – still awaiting results but all can be really proud of their achievements. I know I am really proud of the teams

Team 1:

  • Emily
  • Jayden
  • Charlotte
  • Charley

Team 2:

  • Daniel
  • Morgan
  • Seth
  • Alex

and reserves (special thanks to those who came along today – Paige, Liam etc.).

Enormous thanks to Tim and Jo Williams for logistical support but also the amazing T-Shirts. Can I also say a huge thanks to the parent group for working so hard and helping every step of the way. It’s been really fun. It has  been such fun in fact that we are now looking to stage our very own family walking event – The Hawkridge Hike. We will publicise details on this next week.

More photos very soon but check this link for a great idea of the event:

Have a great Bank Holiday

Mr Gurney

The day is almost here!

Exmoor Challenge 2018 is tomorrow.

At around 9.50am our two teams will set off on their adventure after many weeks of training and preparation. The expedition (EXPED as we like to call it in the trade) involves 600 children walking varied and difficult terrain, 25% gradients, map and compass work, and 16.1 miles before the medals, BBQ and welcome committee at the end. This is a great event that not all schools are able to include as part of their curriculum and is a real culmination for many of our year 6 children (nearly all have taken part in the programme at some stage as well as many year fives, parents and a few dogs). Please join me in wishing them a huge GOOD LUCK and like, love & share this with all you can.  I will post a photo collection of the training sessions and event during the weekend – something to look forward to. Could I also put out a huge thank you to Tim and Jo Williams for organising the team shirts 🙂

Anyone wishing to join us for the day:

Dulverton School

9.30 teams called in and then walk

2.30-3.30 teams expected back
